If you would like the assistance of White Rose Visas in preparing and presenting your application at the Sheffield Service and Support Centre (SSC), do get in touch. We have an excellent and long standing relationship with the staff at the Sheffield SSC. We welcome your questions and enquiries, and offer a free initial consultation. Alternatively, you can book a premium appointment and attend the Sheffield SSC independently. For independent visitors, we hope that the following information and tips are useful.

Sheffield Service and Support Centre (SSC) is situated on Millsands, along the river Don. The full address is Vulcan House, Riverside entrance, 6 Millsands, Sheffield S3 8NU. You can phone the Sheffield Service and Support Centre on 0300 123 2241.

Sheffield SSC opens at 8am, Monday to Saturday, except bank holidays. The closing time is 5pm, except for late opening until 8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Appointment times are typically between 8.30am to 3.30pm.

Sheffield SSC is easily accessible from the Sheffield train and bus station (Sheffield Interchange), taking around 15 minutes to walk, or a 5 minute taxi ride which should cost no more than £5. Alternatively, you could catch bus no 20, 73, 75, 97, or 98, alighting at The Wicker. This journey will cost approximately £1.50.

If you wish to drive, there are two parking options. Nearby on street parking is limited to two hours. Alternatively there is a multi-story car park, with details available here.

Sheffield SSC - pictured below - was refurbished at the start of 2014, so it feels modern and clean inside. Facilities include toilets, baby changing and feeding area, a multi-faith room, a coffee bar, and a vending machine selling cold drinks, sweets and crisps. Drinking water is provided free of charge. There is a TV which shows BBC news or plays the radio.

When you enter the building you will go through security checks, your bags will be scanned and you will have to walk through a metal detector. They will ask you to remove your coat and belt, but not your shoes. You will be asked to remove any sharp items such as scissors, nail files or flammable materials such as lighters and perfume. You will be asked to leave them with security staff to collect on your way out. You will also be asked to open the cover of your mobile phone to check for concealed weapons. The use of mobile phones is permitted inside the building, and there are also pay phones available if you require them.

At times there can be queues to enter the building, so it is a good idea to bring warm clothing or sun hats for the children. It is allowable to leave the building and re-enter which can be useful if children are getting restless. There is a nice walk along the river, and if you cross over the bridge and walk onto The Wicker, there are shops, restaurants, a chemist and an internet cafe.

Staff at Sheffield SSC are extremely helpful and polite, and the experience should be enjoyable.
