Croydon (South London) Service and Support Centre

Croydon Service and Support Centre is situated at Lunar House, 40 Wellesley Road, Croydon, CR9 2BY. You can phone the Croydon Service and Support Centre on 020 8196 3388.
The opening hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, except bank holidays. It is also open until 8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Applications made before this time will be processed on the same day.
Croydon SSC is easily accessible from West Croydon and East Croydon Train Stations. Walking from either station would take approximately 5 to 10 minutes, or you could use a taxi which should take 5 minutes and cost approximately £5.
If you wish to travel via bus, the 50, 194, 198 and N68 all stop right outside the SSC.
If you wish to drive, there are a few parking options. The NCP car park is found over the road on Wellesley Road. Alternatively, Q Park Surrey Street is approximately a 15 minute walk away. There is no on street parking nearby.
When you enter the building you will go through security checks, your bags will be scanned and you will have to walk through a metal detector. They will ask you to remove your coat and belt, but not your shoes. You will be asked to remove any sharp items such as scissors, nail files or flammable materials such as lighters and perfume. You will be asked to leave them with security staff to collect on your way out. You may also be asked to open the cover of your mobile phone to check for concealed weapons. It is not permissible to use a mobile phone inside the building.
There are few facilities at Croydon SSC. There are toilets, baby changing and mother's room, a multi-faith prayer room and a photograph booth. Drinking water is provided. There is a television and radio at the SSC, but it may be advisable to bring books and games for any children. There are no refreshment facilities in the SSC but there are plenty of cafés, take-aways and shops nearby.
We would recommend that you only take a ticket once you've met your Representative, because you tend to get called to the desk promptly after taking a ticket. If you are attending without a Representative, do take a ticket immediately.
You will need to stay in the building until your biometrics have been completed, and you have a decision. If you have a Representative, it should be possible for them to remain in your place. This whole process takes roughly four hours, though of course can vary depending on the workload of the Croydon SSC staff on that day.
Staff at Croydon SSC are extremely helpful and polite, and overall the experience should be enjoyable for you.
